Content Management Systems

When you start to grow a site to many pages and need things like a search facility, you are ready for a content management system.

A content management system is computer software that stores information in a database.

When a person visits your web site the software retrieves the information from the database and puts it up on the web site. The web site user does not see what is happening, all they see is a web site.

Because the information is in a database it means that the design of the site can change but the content is always there. It also means that complex searches etc can be performed on the information in the database, making the information much more useful.

There are many "off the shelf" packages available but we tend to favour just a couple of options.

Joomla/Mambo

This is an Open Source system which in essence means that the software is free. This is a great way to keep the costs down. We can only charge for the installation and configuration but the rest is free.

Browncow content management system

We have a very powerful system that we have built ourselves. The big difference with this system is that is was designed to be used as a web site. Most content management systems are designed for Portal sites or Blogs etc but ours was developed for the sole purpose of building web sites.

Need to add another section to the site? No problem just create one in the administration area and its automatically added to the navigation system.

The system has many powerful features and we would be glad to give you a quotation for using it.
