Do I need a web site?
This is a tough question to answer and of course you will anticipate that my immediate response is yes and I should build it for you. I know you might be a little suspect of my views, seeing as I want you to employ us to build you a website, but please bear with me while I try to explain why I really do think every business should have a web site.
Your customers will expect it.
More and more people are getting on to the Internet these days. It is an ideal way of getting fast information about all kinds of things. This give a business an ideal way to promote what they sell and to keep customers up to date with developments. When something goes wrong it is often to the Internet that people turn and they will expect to get some kind of help from a businesses web site even if it is only contact details. If you don't have a web site it will inconvience your customers and they may well seek help or make their purchase elsewhere.
Your competitors probably have one already.
You may well discover that your competitors in your industry already have a web site. If they do have one and you don't people searching for your services on the Internet will do business with them and not with you. Simple but true.
It might save you money.
When people have a problem with a product one of the first places they turn these days is to the Internet. You can put some helpful advice on your site as to why they may be haing a problem. This gives them a quick answer and you don't have to spend time trying to help them on the telephone. They are happy because they now have an answer (and they could have in at 1 o'clock in the morning if they want) and you are happy because a customer has been helped but you haven't had to spend your valuable time answering their call.
It might help your business to grow.
Finding new clients is a problem for nearly every small business. There are sadly few and far between who can count exclusively on refereals from others. A website is an ideal way to present your services in an attractive fashion that will encourage people to buy from you. The Internet is proving to be one of the most effective ways of finding new clients for many businesses.
It might save you advertising costs.
Adverts are not cheap and need to be run over and over again to have any real effect. For about the price on one advert in a high profile periodical it is possible to have a web site built that is available for the world to see, 365 days a years 24 hours a day. You won't find your website wrapping up someones fish and chips.
Some reasons why you might not need a website.
- You already have enough business that you don't want any more.
- You are in an industry that has no one who would look at the Internet as a customer.
- You don't need to provide support for any of your customers.
